Ball and Buck 2016 Company Retreat

At Ball and Buck, we have a strong commitment to our greater family close and afar which has enabled us to build the type of company that attracts an equally dedicated crew. Our annual company retreat provides us the opportunity to share and build for the future of Ball and Buck all the while getting back to the very roots of the company and spending time in nature doing the activities that make us who we are.

In our tradition, we travel to our founder Mark's cabin in the woods of the Berkshires where we go on hikes, shoot a lionshare of clays, cook locally caught wildlife, workshop ideas and visions and relax over drinks and under the stars with each other.

After making the journey out to Western Massachusetts, we settled into our chosen home away from home in the beautiful countryside of the Berkshires. The following morning began in the most appropriate way, with Mark's Famous Breakfast Sandwiches  and some final work related bits before we unplugged and headed for the woods. Mark led us on an excursion in the nearby mountains where we shared stories and laughs as we hiked in the dense forest. On a recent trip just nearby, Mark had shot the wild turkeys we would cook two ways including the featured, Mossy Oak Buttermilk Fried Turkey recipe  during our stay.

While the turkey legs were smoking at a steady 200 degrees, we turned to one of Ball and Buck's favorite sports and competitions, target shooting. We had a mix of first-time and seasoned clay shooters but all had fun and improved under Mark's expert guidance and direction. As much as we love designing and creating our products, the goal is always that they be used and we couldn't have been more proud to put our gear to the test. Needless to say, we enjoyed our day to the fullest. By nightfall we returned to our base and enjoyed spectacular smoked wild turkey legs (stay tuned for the recipe in a forthcoming journal) and dined under the big sky in our canvas wall tent with kerosene lamps to complete the scene.

We hope you all have a chance to get outside with our gear soon and create your own stories out in the wild where our calling is as well. We invite you to share your stories and advetures with us @ballandbuck on Instagram and Facebook. From everyone here at Ball and Buck, we wish you all a happy and safe Fourth of July.
