Video: How to cook beer can chicken

Each Super Bowl Sunday we light up the grill and have friends over to watch the big game. This year, we've been perfecting some of our favorite recipes in the kitchen just in time for kickoff. A fan favorite has quickly become Mark's beer can chicken recipe. It's simple, delicious, and doesn't take much active cooking time.

  • 1 Full chicken
  • 4 gloves of minced garlic
  • Course salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Olive Oil
  • 8oz Beer of choice

Prepare grill for high, indirect heat. Brush a light coating of olive oil all over the chicken. Season graciously with salt, pepper, and garlic, ensuring to stuff the garlic in all crevices for maximum flavor. Take a few sips of beer to get it half full.

Sportsman's tip: Never waste good beer so drink up.

Place cavity of chicken, legs pointing down, onto open can so that it supports chicken upright. Place chicken with can on grill over indirect heat (and above drip pan).

Grill chicken, covered, until cooked through and an instant-read thermometer reads165°, 45–60 minutes. Let chicken rest 10 minutes before carving.
