Summertime Cocktails to Sip from a Mason Jar

The sun is setting. The crickets and the frogs are starting to sing. In the air, the sticky humidity of the day is giving way to a cool breeze coming in off the lake. Fairy lights lining the path to the dock are starting to flicker on in the dusk and you can hear the sound of friends pulling up into the driveway. A bead of sweat forms and starts to make a path through the condensation down the side of your Mason jar as you sip a chilled cocktail while taking in the sights and sounds around you. It doesn't get much better than this.

To help you enjoy the moment, we've compiled our list of favorite summertime cocktails to sip from your hand-crafted Ball and Buck Leather Mason Jar Sleeve.

THE ROSEMARY JULEP
½ cup granulated sugar
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary (plus 1 for garnish)
4 tablespoons of bourbon
Splash of seltzer
Mix the sugar, ¼ cup of water, and 2 sprigs of rosemary in a saucepan and bring to a simmer on low heat. Remove the pan from the heat and let the rosemary syrup cool. Combine rosemary syrup, bourbon, and seltzer in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until cold and pour into your Mason jar. Garnish with sprig of rosemary.

THE SPRING GARDEN MARGARITA
3 oz silver tequila
2 oz fresh lemon juice
2 oz cucumber juice *see below
3/4 oz honey black pepper syrup * see below
a few cracks of sea salt

*Cucumber Juice
2 small cucumbers
1/4 cup water
*Honey Black Pepper Syrup
1 Tablespoon wildflower honey
1 Tablespoon water
a few cracks of black pepper
Garnish Options
snap pea garnish
fresh mint
edible flowers
cucumber slices

Puree chopped cucumber with water to make cucumber juice. Strain to remove solids.

Microwave for 15 seconds or use stove to heat water and honey together. Stir to combine. If you use the microwave, be sure to watch it during this step so it doesn't overflow. Top with a few cracks of fresh black pepper.

Add tequila, lemon juice, cucumber juice, honey syrup and salt to a shaker with a few ice cubes.

Make pebble ice by adding about 2 cups of ice cubes to a high powered blender. Pulse to get small pieces of pebbled ice, then add your ice to the cups.

Shake the cocktail and pour between two Mason jars. Garnish with mint, edible flowers, cucumber, and peas.
