Derived from the rough German translation meaning "climbing factory," Kletterworks is a brand synonymous with quality, durability, versatility, and functionality - all things we're obsessed with here at Ball and Buck. The company was founded by avid outdoorsman, Dana Gleason, in 1975 but shut its doors shortly thereafter to enjoy an early retirement. Not able to withhold from his passion, Gleason returned to work after creating a bag for his daughter and noticing a clear void in the industry for bags that can withstand the unpredictability of the great outdoors. In 2000, Dana and partner Renee, opened Mystery Ranch and were back in business creating the best backpacks in the game.
Shortly after, inspired by the vision and dedication of his dad, Gleason III reopened Kletterworks to continue the legacy his dad had started over thirty five years prior. We had a chance to check out their design warehouse and see the craftsmanship up close.
Rolls of rust colored Cordura can be seen in mass supply around the studio, which has become a kind of signature feature of any Kletterwerks bag. To this day, their bags are still made with the long lasting Cordura and continue to evolve while always staying true to their purpose - being the most dependable bags on the market.
