Once a year we find the time to pull ourselves away from our desks and head out to our CEO and Founders home for a three day retreat deep in the heart of Western Massachusetts. Similar to years past, we spent time shooting clays, eating incredible home cooked meals and enjoying time away from the hustle of New York City. Unlike years past, each member of the team was assigned a project just days before the retreat, all with the same goal - how do we turn our customer feedback into brand action? Tasked with this project, we headed to the woods to do some serious team bonding and future planning.
After some minor setbacks changing the gas with America III, the girls managed to survive the drive in the diesel truck feeling more determined than ever. Upon arrival, Mark had his Famous Breakfast Sandwich ready to fuel the team for the upcoming planning sessions. Being tucked away in the woods allows us the time to truly reflect on the past year and plan for the future. It is on these retreats where some of the companies greatest successes have been cultivated and brought to life. This year, as we spent time reflecting on what we can do to better serve our customers, we had passionate, sometimes heated, conversations that turned into some of our key projects for the upcoming year. It is times like these where we do our best work - which we can't wait to share with all of you in throughout the coming months.
Although lots of hard work goes into these retreats we always find time for a little bit of friendly competition. This year, the 6 course clay shooting tournament consisted of 4 locations with various shooting requirements and techniques. After a quick demonstration from Mark each person was left to fend for themselves for the grand prize of a brand new Beretta a400 Shotgun. If there is one thing to be said about our Ball and Buck team, it's that we are all fierce competitors. Suffice to say, a small amount of heckling from the crowd did happen, but not enough to stop Jess from sweeping the team and taking home her very first shotgun.
After a long day of shooting, the team came together to grill up some super simple but delicious Tomahawk steaks with grilled vegetable sides while dining under the big sky in our canvas wall tent with kerosene lamps to complete the scene. After a few glasses of whiskey and a cigar, the girls opted to sleep under the stars in the tent and enjoy the the stillness of the great outdoors.
Our annual company retreat has become a cherished time for us. It allows us time to reflect, plan and come together as a team. It's always a privilege to be able to share these experiences with one another and we are excited to start to share some of the big changes with all of you. Stay tuned throughout the coming weeks and months to see some of the big changes that happened on our 2017 annual company retreat.
