Role: Licensed Master Barber - Nashville, TN
Join one of Nashville's premier in-store barbershop experiences. We're looking for a skilled, licensed Master Barber who wants to build a clientele in a high-end retail environment — someone who takes pride in their craft and is as comfortable talking about waxed canvas as they are about skin fades. This is a sole-operator position with a shared revenue model: you'll own the chair, set the standard for the experience, and serve as a genuine ambassador for the Ball and Buck brand, introducing clients to our products and story as a natural extension of the service.
Compensation:
- Up to $75,000/year
- Revenue share
Responsibilities:
- Provide a full range of barbering services including haircuts, fades, beard trims, shaves, and styling
- Consult with clients to understand their preferences and recommend styles
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation in full compliance with Tennessee Board health and sanitation regulations
- Serve as the licensed manager-on-duty as required by Tennessee law
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business
- Serve as a genuine ambassador for the Ball and Buck brand, introducing clients to our products and story as a natural extension of the service experience
Requirements
- Active Tennessee Master Barber license — required. Applications without a valid license on file will not be reviewed.
- Completed Shear Haven domestic violence awareness training, or willingness to complete before start date
- Minimum 2 years of professional barbering experience
- Strong proficiency in fades, skin fades, tapers, and straight-razor techniques
- Professional demeanor and ability to work independently within a retail environment
Preferred
- Existing client base or demonstrated ability to build clientele
- Experience with booking software (e.g., Square, Booksy, or Vagaro)
- Social media presence or portfolio of recent work

Role: Firearms Manager "Chief Gunner" - Nashville, TN
Ball and Buck is opening its newest
retail store in Nashville — a full expression of the brand, with two
standout additions: a world-class barbershop and a discreet firearms
room stocked with a tightly curated selection of premium modern and
high-end vintage luxury firearms. We're looking for a Firearms Manager —
our Chief Gunner — to own that room. This is the person who guides
guests to the right firearm, runs every sale with precision and full
compliance, and keeps the room buttoned up from open to close — all
while championing the broader store and the full Ball and Buck lineup.
It's a role for someone who knows firearms, respects the responsibility
that comes with selling them, treats the record-keeping as seriously as
the product, and understands the firearms room is one special part of a
great retail experience.
What you'll do
- Lead the firearms department day to day and set the standard for the guest experience at the counter
- Guide guests through the selection of firearms and gear, sharing real knowledge of fit, function, and use
- Become an expert in the full Ball and Buck lineup
- Work in tandem with the sales team to drive the store's overall
sales, pairing each firearms purchase with the apparel and gear that
complement it - Run every sale in full compliance with federal and Tennessee law —
complete ATF Form 4473, initiate TBI/TICS background checks, and verify
eligibility before any transfer - Own the Acquisition & Disposition bound book and all required records with exacting accuracy
- Manage firearms inventory, intake, and reorders in coordination with the home office
- Educate guests on safe handling, storage, and care
- Keep the firearms area secure and standards-compliant through every shift
- Stay current on ATF and TBI requirements as they change
- Perform basic gunsmithing — cleaning, adjustments, accessory installs, and minor repairs
What you bring
- 21 or older, and eligible to possess firearms under federal and Tennessee law (must pass a background check)
- Experience in firearms retail, with working knowledge of ATF compliance — Form 4473, NICS/TICS, and bound-book recordkeeping
- Leadership instincts and the discipline to hold a high standard
- Deep familiarity with firearms across categories
- A genuine interest in the full Ball and Buck product line and a knack for connecting it to what guests need

Ball and Buck is an equal opportunity employer. We're building teams across the country that reflect the diverse communities we serve.
Why Ball and Buck Exists

To Design, Test, and Build Products Made to Last
Ball and Buck builds products that last generations. Not because heritage and craftsmanship sound good in marketing—but because those products enable something more valuable: time outside with the people who matter most.

To steward a legacy of hunting heritage
Teaching your son or daughter to cast a fly line. A morning in the duck blind with your grandfather. An evening at the range with old friends. These moments shape families and create memories that endure. We make items to carry on this tradition.

To Embody the outdoor Lifestyle Every Day
The outdoor lifestyle isn’t an inspiration, it’s a way of life, one that is engrained deeply into every decision we make as a company.
Does that Resonate?

Why Work Here & Why Ball and Buck is Different

Ground Floor Opportunity
Ball and Buck is scaling thoughtfully across the country. Team members at this stage help shape how the company grows. Individual ambition drives real outcomes.

Real Ownership
Small teams mean your decisions matter immediately. No corporate red tape. Take action, make tough decisions, and celebrate the results.

Work With Purpose
Every role connects to a mission that matters: helping folks spend meaningful time in the outdoors. The work enables memories around campfires, morning coffee in the duck blind and sunsets on the water.

Excellence Over Excuses
Ball and Buck moves fast but with intention. Exceed expectations consistently, contribute to value-adding work, and build trust through reliable performance. No pointless meetings, no busywork, no corporate bureaucracy.
Honor
Admit mistakes quickly, handle disagreements directly, say only what you'd say to someone's face, and earn a reputation for candor. No politics, no hidden agendas—just honest, direct communication.
Excellence
Exceed expectations consistently, build trust through reliable performance, contribute to value-adding work, and take action over analysis. Good enough isn't good enough here.
Resolve
Identify root causes, make sound decisions despite ambiguity, think strategically, and know what to perfect now versus later. Don't agonize—decide and move forward.
Innovation
Question the status quo with proven alternatives, keep Ball and Buck nimble by minimizing complexity, innovate to fix root causes, and bring ideas that deliver real value. Better ways exist—find them.
Teamwork
Put Ball and Buck first, set ego aside, share knowledge openly, and help others without expecting anything in return. The mission matters more than individual credit.
Ambition
Inspire others through pursuit of excellence, care about Ball and Buck's success above all else, challenge decisions that don't align with our values, and celebrate wins. Drive matters.
Grit
Take smart risks, speak your mind constructively, make tough decisions without agonizing, and say what you think even when controversial. Courage and resilience define this team.
Eagerness
Ask questions about all facets of the business, seek learning opportunities, contribute beyond your specialty, and continuously grow your knowledge of the Ball and Buck lifestyle. Curiosity fuels growth.
Culture in Action

Ideas over Hierarchy
The best idea wins, regardless of who says it. Junior team members challenge senior decisions when something doesn't make sense. Ball and Buck values resolve and grit—speak your mind constructively, even when it's controversial. Disagree directly, not in back channels.

Action Over Analysis
Ball and Buck hires people who take action over endless analysis. Make the call, see what happens, adjust. Resolve means knowing what to perfect now versus later. Excellence comes from doing, not planning to do.

Quality Without Compromise
Ball and Buck walks away from shortcuts. That principle applies to how the team operates—doing things right takes precedence over doing things fast. Excellence and resolve drive every decision. The work matters more than hitting arbitrary deadlines.

Ownership Without Ego
Teamwork means setting ego aside and putting Ball and Buck first. When something breaks, own it. When someone needs help, provide it without expecting credit. Share knowledge openly. Celebrate wins as a team, not as individuals.

Innovation That Matters
Question the status quo, but bring proven alternatives. Innovation at Ball and Buck means fixing root causes, not adding complexity. Keep things nimble. Contribute ideas that deliver real value, not just different ways of doing the same thing.

Family and Field First
Ball and Buck builds products so families can be together outdoors. That philosophy extends to the team. Time with your own family matters. Opening day of hunting season matters. Living the lifestyle the company supports matters. Eagerness includes growing your connection to the Ball and Buck lifestyle.

Application FAQs
What does the interview process look like?
Honest conversations to see if there's mutual fit. We love to see videos submitted, or "meet" you on video beforehand. Ball and Buck values honor and candor—expect direct questions and give direct answers. The process moves fast because ambition and resolve drive decisions, usually within two weeks for active roles.
What kind of person succeeds at Ball and Buck?
People who embody the eight core values: Honor (direct and candid), Excellence (reliable and action-oriented), Resolve (decisive despite ambiguity), Innovation (question status quo with solutions), Teamwork (ego aside, company first), Ambition (drive for excellence), Grit (take smart risks, speak up), and Eagerness (continuous learning). Those who prefer clear hierarchies and defined swim lanes typically struggle. Those who roll up their sleeves, take ownership, and solve problems thrive.
Does Ball and Buck support remote work?
Positions are primarily based in our Dallas HQ. In select scenarios we may offer remote flexibility. Retail and operations roles require on-site presence. All roles prioritize results over tracking hours
How long does it take to hear back?
Ball and Buck reviews applications within two to three weeks. If there is a clear fit for an open position you may hear from us sooner.
Can I apply for multiple roles?
Yes. Apply where your skills and interests genuinely align. Eagerness means contributing beyond your specialty, so if you see multiple ways you could add value, say so. The team evaluates each application individually and may suggest alternative roles if there's a better fit.
I don't have outdoor sporting experience. Does that matter?
Authentic interest and eagerness matter more than current expertise. Ball and Buck looks for people who value time outdoors with family and understand why the company mission resonates. The willingness to continuously grow your knowledge of the Ball and Buck lifestyle is essential. The rest can be learned.
What's the growth potential?
Ball and Buck is scaling deliberately across the South and beyond. Early team members who demonstrate excellence, ambition, and grit shape how that growth happens. Opportunities expand as the company does—but only for those who earn them through contribution, not tenure. Put Ball and Buck first, exceed expectations, and growth follows.
What happens if I make a mistake?
Admit it quickly, own it completely, fix it immediately. Honor means earning a reputation for candor—that includes being honest when you mess up. Ball and Buck values people who take smart risks and make tough decisions. Mistakes happen. Hiding them or making excuses doesn't fly here. Taking responsibility and learning does.
Don't See Your Role Yet?
Ball and Buck is growing fast. New store openings mean new team members, new functions, and new opportunities to make an impact. Check back often as roles may open soon that match your background.
